I got anxiety just reading about Parsons arming the bomb in the air! 😨 The thought that a crash could have wiped out the island is terrifying. I don’t know how they slept at all before that mission.

Sherwin is spot on. The casualty estimates were bogus and Truman knew it. The bomb was just a way to keep the Soviets out of the Pacific settlement.
