On November 4, 1986, the Birnies abduct Denise Brown, chaining and assaulting her before burying her in Gleneagles Park. Days later, they repeat the horror with Elizabeth Dolan, growing bolder after each killing.

Ep 3:

The Birnies' Downfall

As girls vanish, detectives see the pattern, and Kate Moir provides the breakthrough. Confronted with graves and evidence, the Birnies confess, ending the killing spree.

Ep 4:

The Smug on Trial

In 1987, both plead guilty and receive life sentences, despite Catherine claiming she was forced. Secret prison letters and failed parole bids follow, until David dies by suicide in 2005.

I think Kate is right to push for truth in sentencing. The automatic parole reviews are a slap in the face to victims who have to relive the trauma every few years.

I 100% agree Catherine wasn't a victim. She wrote those sick letters and spat on a grave out of jealousy. She was just as evil as David.
